I'm going to share one of my all time favourite books with you today.

It's called purple hibiscus.

Note: if you are looking for a sappy,cute love story, this is not your book.

However if what you seek is something that will challenge you on so many levels because it will make you recognise traits you despise within yourself, then yes you will enjoy this book.

Purple hibiscus is set in Nigeria, it is a coming of age novel that follows the life of a teenage girl and her family. Like most teenagers (myself included) she has lived a certain way all her life but a point all  she thought to be right is challenged, the life she thought was perfect is not what s it seems when she views it from a different angle. She is introduced into a new world and is faced with love, reality and choosing between what she is accustomed to and what she now knows is right. It is a beautiful read that will change your perspective of certain issues and evoke countless emotions in you. 

Some themes are quite dark and difficult so I recommend being at least 15 years old before you read this book.
