This is most likely the most feminine piece you will ever see me in.


If you follow me on Instagram (@unefillemorderne) you know that I usually have my hair in poetic justice esque box braids and anyone who has known me for a while associates this look with me. However, this summer I have had my afro out.

Doing this has caused me to become more explorative style wise.
I have a quite "feminine" face, but when I have my box braids they literally create a curtain over my face allowing my to hide these traditionally feminine feautures making it easier to pull off my typically tomboy inspired style.

This was impossible this summer as my face was exposed causing me to incorporate archetypically feminine pieces into my style and I can't say I hate it. I mean realistically this is the most feminine piece you will ever see me in, but it is a step right?

It is common knowledge that the black maxi dress is a summer staple, mainly as a result of its convenience being that it creates an element of class effortlessly while simultaneously giving its slimming effects. It is understandable that many want to carry this convenience from day to night. The key to this in my opinion is accessories. Whilst a daytime look may consist of colourful trainers and no/light makeup. A night time look will require heels and a bold lip. A classic look is guaranteed, all this with minimal effort.

I particularly enjoy spending time with Zainab because we are best described as tumblr/Instagram girls.

*Tumblr/Instagram girls : phtography, aesthetic, style, beauty and health obsessed female individual.

This makes us understanding of one another's urge to take pictures of any/everything, our knowledge of angles which highlight each others best features and are constantly in search of perfect light. More importantly it allows me to be creatively open with her as I know I won't be judged.

Hi darlings,

Yesterday, while out for for coffee with a friend I saw a man with the most beautiful hair ever. My friend and I simultaneously complimented him on how amazing his hair was, as a result of this  we fell into conversation and before we knew what was going on we were sitting in a park with one of the wisest men I have ever known.

He spoke about his experiences detailing various injustices, but he relayed them with a smile. From his stories it was clear he had a fearless approach to most things in life and was willing to try new things without letting self doubt and insecurities hinder his progress. He had travelled to the most amazing places and met the most amazing people. He had really lived without placing too much significance on material possessions. He easily filtered all forms of negativity from his life and really took control of it deciding for himself what was good for him not anyone else.

He is interested in helping others find peace with themselves and for years has taught people mindfulness and given amazing advice. We ended our meeting with him teaching my friend and I an exercise to help us release tension and promote long term memory. He is one of the most amazing people I have been fortunate enough to meet and he has definitely had a positive impact in my life. My favourite piece of advice from him was to not define our lives by time because a person can never be whole if an element seperates them into 3 parts (past, present an future).

Playlists have become my new favourite thing, I listen to a lot of music so it is natural.
Last week I listened to a lot of stuff I had never heard, they weren't on the charts, on  any playlists just completely new and random artistes recmeneded by Spotify ( cheers Spotify ) and I ended up really enjoying them so I figured you should too!

One more magic trick you can perform with coconut oil.

Hi darlings!
I am big fan of highlighter, honestly I can't get enough of that stuff, love it! I mean who doesn't love shiny things and when we find something that makes us -lovers of shiny tings- shiny we are bound to fall head over heels. I have a little problem with it though, it is a form of face makeup and I do not feel comfortable putting any form of face makeup on my skin without a BB cream as there is no protection between my face and makeup aka chemicals.

I know what you are thinking - if you don't like highlighting your face sans BB cream, why don't you just wear BB cream? See there is another problem of mine, I'm not too keen on BB cream either. I mean yes I went out and got myself some, yes I love that it has acne fighting properties and yes I wear it on occasion but do I want to wear it everyday? meh.

I however, want to look shiny and sparkly everyday, so yes I want to wear highlighter everyday but I can't because I don't want to wear BB cream. I know , I know #firstworldproblems. That was until I watched thatsschic's video and  I realised that there was a simple solution to this as I could easily use coconut oil as a highlighter.

All you need to do is apply coconut oil where you would usually apply highlighter and voila you become sparkly and shiny!
If like me you have oily/ combination skin use sun screen before applying
so the coconut oil keeps acting like a highlighter and doesn't make your face oily because that is simply a recipe for acne and no one wants that.
